My take on Aberdeen

When you enter Aberdeen you can feel the breeze of the sea invading your lungs. Maybe because you haven’t seen the sea in a very long time or, maybe because the wind is so strong that it pumps you so hard that you feel like a balloon ready to fly just like a drunken seagull. This city is rich and powerful with a high standard of lifestyle. But you don’t feel it straight away, it takes time and long walks on the wet sidewalks.

At first, you feel embarrassed to take your camera out and start capturing the faces on the street because you don’t have a DSLR, but merely a compact 10 megapixels camera. But when you do that and take the first picture you start to wonder. Every thing in the picture is grey. You check out the setting to see if by mistake it’s on black and white mode, but it’s not. After a couple of seconds, you realize that you don’t have any colors to capture on your memory card. In this city every thing is grey and heavy. Every single building is made of granite. Maybe that’s why they call it the Granite City.

Autumn is here and in the suburbs the trees are having their go at coloring the view with bloody leaves. When you walk around, you feel like an actor in one of Tim Burton’s movies with crows flying over your head. But inside, under the warm covers, peace is lying besides you wearing black and white pijamas.
